I am forever indebted to a boy in my philosophy class for telling me that Portal is available as a free download today.

Aaaand there goes my productivity for the next six months.

Sep. 14th, 2011

Okay so it is midnight and I have a ton of homework, Discworld icons to make and a German test in less than eight hours, but instead of sleeping I'm trawling Modest Mouse videos on yotube.

Modest Mouse -- Here It Comes (Live 2010)

I think I would give my left kidney to have been there for this. Good God. -misty eyed-

Only 4.5k left...! *thud*

just a small reminder

50 days till school. 105 days till Snuff.

Icons (Discworld and Lilac Day, whoohoo)

May. 22nd, 2011

So, I have great news! The world didn't end  yesterday. You have probably already taken note of this with an utter lack of surprise, but it's worth mentioning anyway because the whole idiotic mess gave us the most amazing tweet ever from one Terry Pratchett:

Also, because the world is still here, my awkward, oversized rabble of a(n extended) family was able to make it to Florida for a sort of communal vacation. It's going to be insane.

The 25th is fast approaching, which means I need to get my butt in gear and finish those icons I promised. @_@ Gah. WHY ARE YOU SO DISTRACTING, MATTHEW GRAY GUBLER? I HAVE BETTER THINGS TO DO THAN WATCH "CONFLICTED" FOR THE THIRTY-SEVENTH TIME.

On a more serious note: lilactoventoux's big ride for Alzheimer's research is only three days away. Once again, if anyone happens to come across this journal and feels moved to donate, the information is here.

Thanks in advance! -keeping fingers crossed-

First of all, thank you very much to Wossname: Newsletter of the Klatchian Foreign Legion and Discworld Monthly for your respective signal boosts for Lilac to Ventoux. Much appreciated! And greetings to any new readers who might have come here as a result of this signal-boosting.

Secondly, thank you to Martie H for your donation this week! We're up to £75 on the JustGiving page now, and $25 in other donations, for which my thanks to everyone.

The keen-eyed among you will have noticed that there is no longer a goal figure of £2000 on the JustGiving page. This is because I was getting seriously stressed about (not) meeting the goal, and it was starting to ruin the experience of doing something positive for Alzheimer's. I remembered something Arni had said about my attitude to cycling up the Keutenberg - he said instead of thinking "I'm never going to make it!", why don't I turn that around to "Let's see how far I can get"? This struck me as very good advice, not just for riding up mountains fiendishly steep hills, but also for the fundraising. So that's why I've changed my JustGiving page.

This weekend, I'm hoping to go back to Margraten, with the Powerbikers this time, to get some more climb-kilometres in my legs. I'm really looking forward to it! Even the Keutenberg, if we do that. :P

Thanks for listening!
